Hey lovelies! I need to give a think about some ways I can pump some more life into this place... speaking of life, mine's fine but kicking my butt lately re: busy and stress. Which makes projects like a comm harder, admittedly... oh well! For now we have our lovely weekly chatting thread.

Apr. 19th, 2014 10:44 pmad00absurdumHi guys. Newb here, but I've recently found a new band and I just have to share. Everywhere. Because, obviously, they are BRILLIANT.
They are called Colour Of Bone, they formed ca 2012 and come from the UK and that's pretty much all that is known about them. Well, the other sure thing is that their singer is Sam Stockman, perhaps better known as DC Emerson Kent from the British TV crime drama "Whitechapel" (and those of you who haven't seen it, should totally watch because it's amazing and all kinds of lovely (and occasionally gruesome)). Perhaps some visual material may be handy: http://dcbambieyes.tumblr.com/ :D
Onto the music, then. First there's the band's website on Bandcamp. You can download their songs there as well (for a small fee) because they haven't released an album yet, just a handful of singles. The site is constructed in such a way that you can actually get your 'fan' account, send messages to the bands you support and all other sorts of things. I'm currently giddy-ly exploring it.

This week, I got a little 5 gallon fishtank for my desk. I don't have fish for it yet but there's a live plant and it's just waiting to receive life. <3

Hey y'all! Sorry it's a bit late but I had to work today.
This week I:
~Got a bunch done on my shawl, yay! It's lookin' awesome.
~Finished my first ever knitting project, a dishcloth!
~Made pie and had a tea party with two friends.

killiaraIs it cheating in knitting if I in frustration use a crochet hook in conjunction with the two needles to make the @#!~@$#@ purl stitch WORK?
GRRRRRR.
Maybe I in my extreme left handedness should give in and try to use continental instead, but bleep, I've gotten this far and I'm stubborn. >.<
(Plus if I learn both methods, then I could probably switch between styles each row, and thus avoid having to turn the project 180 degrees at the end of each row! Just work back and forth...)
Edited to say that I did eventually get it. And I've stopped for the night thanks to my left hand cramping.

One of my sort of new year's resolutions was to reduce the number of unread books that were on my bookshelves. The simple way to do that would have been to just throw a load out, but I couldn't do that, so instead I'm making a concerted effort to read my way through books I already own.
It's already thrown up a few obstacles (turns out some of the books are parts of series and I don't have the earlier parts, therefore necessitating tracking down copies of those), but overall it's a challenge I'm enjoying and I just thought that perhaps other people might have recommendations or words of caution about books they've been reading, inspiring me and others into trying out that good book that you've just finished or are part way through.
So, who's willing to share? What are you reading this month?

I also think if you take it more than once you might get different questions. A friend of mine got a question that I didn't see.
